It’s a new year, and here at the Community-Led Alliance we’re excited to deliver the most informative, accessible, and enjoyable content in 2023.
We are also rapidly growing our collective of community professionals in our free Slack community, and have no plans to stop. But, what’s so good about it, you ask? Well, why don’t we ask one of our most enthusiastic members?
We spoke to Fihmiya Hamdan, Community Manager at Crafted Careers and Belongly, about her experience in CLA’s community. Here’s what she had to say.
Tell us a bit about yourself
I’m Fihmiya, and I’m a former educator of over 10 years.
I pivoted into the community industry as a CM at both Belongly, a social network for mental health professionals, and Career Crafter, a platform for career growth. I love to travel and explore the outdoors. I have a passion for baking and I’m a real coffee fanatic.
What did you sign up for CLA’s Slack community?
As a newcomer to the industry, I wanted to be able to connect with more folks in the community space. CLA offered that opportunity, as well as the chance to learn more about community itself.
Has the community taught you anything or helped you out so far? If so, how?
Definitely! I’ve gained a ton of resources already that have really helped me out. It’s been useful to have access to that kind of material, and it’s made a real difference when it’s come to creating content for my community members.
What do you like most about the CLA Slack community?
In the community, there is so much support shown between members and regular feedback and conversation for anyone who wants to take part. I love it!
Would you recommend CLA’s Slack community to others, why should others join?
Yes, I definitely would.
There’s a real sense of connection, collaboration, and belonging in this community and it’s something that others would definitely benefit from.
What’s exciting you about the community in the future?
I’m excited to keep learning about community, to keep networking, and to continue using what I’ve learned with my own community spaces. I’m happy to be a part of CLA’s community and look forward to more opportunities.
